BioHPC is organized around Project Spaces owned by approved Department of Biology Principal Investigators, providing shared project areas for Department employees, employed students, and technical staff.

How BioHPC works

Access for Department of Biology employees follows the established Airtable-based onboarding workflow. Users first request a BioHPC User Account; after that account has been created, they request membership of one or more approved Project Spaces.

PI registration

The PI registers so BioHPC can confirm eligibility and identify the responsible Project Space owner.

Project Space request

The approved Department of Biology PI requests one or more Project Spaces for specific research activities.

User account request

Department of Biology employees request a BioHPC User Account as the first user onboarding step.

Project membership request

After the BioHPC account has been created, registered users apply for membership of one or more Project Spaces.

PI / Technical Contact approval

The responsible PI or an authorized delegate reviews and approves Project Space membership requests.

Fully operational

Users can store data and run analyses after their BioHPC account exists and they have been approved for at least one Project Space.

Project Spaces are the organizing unit

A Project Space is a shared project area that provides storage, user management, accounting, and access to shared compute resources for an approved research project under the responsibility of a Principal Investigator. Every BioHPC user must belong to at least one Project Space before they can store data or run analyses.
